Getting in the Spirit?
26 12 08 - 10:58 I have come to realize that for many of today’s X-tians, getting in the “spirit” is not a religious occurrence. During this time of the year, when radio, TV and print advertisements entice the recipients to splurge on their families, friends or even reward their own desires, the True Worshiper realizes that there is nothing Spiritual about the direction that this man-made holiday (not holy-day) has taken. Yahweh’s Feast days have a specific purpose which is coupled with a lesson to applied by faithful observers.Years ago, on one of my many travels, I stopped during this time of year to fuel my vehicle late at night. After I dispensed the fuel into my vehicle I went into the shop to pay the cashier for my purchase. When I walked in there were three employees slouched over their chairs, passed out from consuming too much of the “Holiday Spirit”. I tried to wake them up to no avail so, because I was passing by this station on my return trip, continued on my way. The next day I returned and went up to the check-out counter. I asked “Are you missing any fuel?” They replied that they had not checked so they weren’t sure. I reiterated the events of the previous evening and proffered the money for the 75 gallons of fuel. How embarrassed, but thankful they were that my honesty triumphed over their lack of spirituality.
Was this how the heavenly Father intended us to worship him, with self-gratification? The Bible is clear in Isaiah 1:14 that these man-made holidays are a burden to Yahweh and He hates them. This however gives us an opportunity when someone wishes us a “Happy Holidays” or some other greeting to witness Yahweh’s Truth to them. In so doing we separate between the Faith and obedience that we have in Yahweh with the un-Biblical reveling that the world immerses themselves in. “His yoke is easy, His burden is light”.
